Real problem after phone dropped...switching buttons? Help!

Hey all,

I'm a long-time lurker of these boards and a huge fan of the HTC Vogue...I have had mine for over 2 years but it took a fall today that has been causing a problem.

Basically, it fell down and now a chunk of the top of the phone is missing - near the sleep button. This has basically disabled the sleep/on button on the phone - so if I let it go to sleep by not using the phone - the only way for me to turn it back on and use the phone is to wait until I get an SMS or phone call!

Is there a way to make the END button have the function of the SLEEP button? Or any other potential solutions??

All help is appreciated

I have found a temporary fix - disabling sleep mode by turning off that option in Power settings. But this leaves the phone constantly ON, and will drain battery.

Anything else I can do?

Re: Real problem after phone dropped...switching buttons? Help!

There's probably no problem with the power button. The little chrome outer button has a very small stem that pushes a small actuator button on the circuit board. It's probably out of alignment. Take a look at this thread here. One of the links shows how to disassemble the phone, and you could probably realign it. If the stem is broken on the outer chrome button, just remove the chrome button and use your stylus to take the phone out of sleep mode. Hope this Helps. Thanks T M Z
