WinMo 6.5.x and the (X) button - lacking full functionality?

I have noticed with the newer builds of 6.5(.x) that now that the X (close) button is at the bottom of the screen, it no longer has 2 functions. This is ridiculously annoying, and we no longer has a decent task manager either (yes I know I can install one, but that's besides the point here).

Has anyone figured out how to restore the long press close function to the X button? Currently it minimizes whether it's a long press or a tap. Might be an easy fix for someone willing to work magic on it. I might start digging through registry soon to see if I can find somewhere to add the value, but if someone else knows how to do it, please share!

Thanks!

Re: WinMo 6.5.x and the (X) button - lacking full functionality?

Keep in mind thay Microsoft designed WM unused apps on its own when the device is low on ram (of course, sometimes with lots of warning). It is not suppose to close any apps.

Most 3rd party apps (Like what you are asking about HTC Task Manager) monitor a certain location on the screen to handle the close action mainly because WM does not provide any event for that. Until WM with new interface is released, nobody would come out with any apps to do that (monitoring the lower right area for close action).

So downloading a task manager (other than HTC task manager) is the only option we have.
