Standalone VOGUIMG.NBH file for Radio 3.42.50 (separate from Bell ROM)?

Anyone have the 3.42.50 radio ROM as a standalong NBH file? "VOGUIMG.nbh" to be exact? I would like to flash just the radio from my FAT32 formatted SD card, rather than have to flash the entire Bell ROM, just to get its radio.

I have my ROM all set up exactly how I want it, I just want the best GPS radio. Currently I have the 3.37.78 that came with the last official update. It get locks ok, but I have heard the 3.42.50 is better.

Am I right in what I have heard? and Is a standalong NBH file available? Thanks

Thanks alot!! And yeah, flashing the radio flashes a different chip inside the device, not the ROM chip, regardless of the phone model you have.

And - is this the best radio to have? for GPS and otherwise?

It is kinda funny it is still the newest...Last year I have a XV6800 (Titan) with that radio, then I switched to a TouchPro for 6 months, and now I am on the XV6900, that uses the same old radio, lol. Hey, if it works great - however I cannot get mine to work for GPS or anything! :( bummer. (Yes, I have tried all the steps on EVERY site. It may just be that these new ones, as I did get it a week ago new from VZW, are blocked)

put the file "VOGUIMG.nbh" in the root of a FAT32 formatted SD card. The card must be FAT32 formatted, 2GB or less in capacity, and you must use 1024 for the allocation setting when formatting.

Once you have the file on the SD card, you put the card in the phone, and hold down the Power+Camera+Reset all at the same time until you see the tricolor bootloader screen, then let go of the buttons one at a time (i think) and it will go into the radio update routine.

This will NOT wipe your phone, this just updates the radio chip, so no worries there.

Had similar problem. Had to goto ##DATA# , edit, insert ESN #, then just click OK or Exit after it shows you info. It should say it is rebooting, after reboot I had GPS.

Hope it help.

Thanks, just what I needed. I got the .50 installed, but wanted to have a quick way of going back to .30, without having to flash the sprint rom.

Thanks again.

Anyway to do this without using an SD card, I only have 4GB cards...

i read somewhere that there is a possibility of partioning the card into 2 one partion 1 gig and the other 3 gig, dunno whether it works tho, no harm in giving it a go

I think Paragon Partition Manager will do it. I'm going to download it tonight and try it out tomorrow. I hope it works. I'm tired of carrying around an 8gb and a 2gb card just for flashing.

Re: Standalone VOGUIMG.NBH file for Radio 3.42.50 (separate from Bell ROM)?

I had a 4 gb card, and tried to partition it into a 3gb 1gb but the computer would only recognize 1 partition. I used the 1gb as the main and tried to flash nope. I tried with my 8gb card too, and nope. oh well.

Re: Standalone VOGUIMG.NBH file for Radio 3.42.50 (separate from Bell ROM)?

Your problem is that you are creating multiple partitions...just make a 1GB partition and leave the rest blank (unpartitioned space)

You can partition an mSD card natively in windows, by doing the following...

1. In XP/2003, Right-click on "My Computer" (or "Computer" in Vista) and select "Manage"

2. Select "Disk Management" from the left hand side, and it will show all your harddrives and connected flash/storage cards

3. Right click on the desired card, and make a 1GB partition, and then make the larger area inactive, or delete it, so it is just raw/free space (unpartitioned)

So now you have a 1GB card basically, and no other partitions on the card. For example, and 4GB card would be a 1GB partition, with 3GB free space (unpartitioned space) - shows up as a 1GB card in your phone and in Windows. Just make sure to format the 1GB partition as FAT32 with "1024 bytes" for the allocation unit size, then just follow my previous instructions on how to flash the IMG file from the root of your mSD card..
