Test: ppcKitchen Manila2d Rom w/oem Package...Updated 10/23/08 7:40am

Good day folks!

I heard somewhere that this was how the ppckitchen was intented to be used. What I have provided here is a Flashable Rom, plus the additional OEM's, and selections.txt needed to build your own rom with the ppcKitchen using this base.

In this thread I would like to test that theory. I wanna see how user friendly it is, what problems you have etc...

Version 1.0.1 is here!!! Cleaned up the start menu and this is a good base to build on. I took my basic "stuff" and made a clean base. This is much easier to handle... Here it is: (btw v1.0 was scrapped :) )

http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...Screen01-2.png http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...Screen02-2.png http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...Screen03-1.png http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...Screen05-1.png

The Files you need:
=======================
rstg_Manila2D_Sys20755_OEM_v1.0.1.rar -- Misc OEM's needed for the rom
rstg_Manila2D_Sys20755_v1.0.1 Selections.txt -- The Rom's selections.txt file.
rstg_Manila2D_Sys20273_v1.0.1 Selections.txt -- The Rom's selections.txt file. (the above OEM pack will work just fine)

rstg_Manila2D_ppcKitchen_OEM_v1.0.2.rar -- Misc OEM's needed for the rom
rstg_Manila2D_Sys20755_v1.0.2 Selections.txt -- The Rom's selections.txt file.
rstg_Manila2D_Sys20273_v1.0.2 Selections.txt -- The Rom's selections.txt file. (the above OEM pack will work just fine)
changelog v1.0.2: Added Gullum Diamond Keyboard, Batti v2.4

Work got ya locked down? ftp://ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/rstoyguy/ppcK_rom_packs/

The Basics:
=======================
Here is what you need to do to make it work:
1. In your ppckitchens directory, create a new directory: USER_OEM2

2. Extract "rstg_Manila2D_Sys20755_v1.0.1.rar" into the USER_OEM2 directory

3. Copy "rstg_Manila2D_Sys20755_v1.0.1 Selections.txt" into the Projects directory

Open buildos and enjoy.

The following rom's will need the RomUpgradeUtility.rar.

Here is a flashable rom: rstg_Manila2D_Sys20755_v1.0_SprintNBH.rar

I'll elaborate more and pretty this up later. This is just a test, so I'm not going to spend too much time on this post.

Notes:

And if I could have boggsie take at look at the provxml file inside the zzz_My_Start_Menu_ppcKitchen_v2.0_OEM, I sure would like to you to check the formatting and see why it isn't working!!!! :) :)

Awesome idea, trying it now

Re: Test: ppcKitchen Rom w/oem Package

I failed to mention, or ask, IS THIS NOT A GRAND IDEA? :)

How is everyone going to respond to this? Thumbs up or Thumbs down...If this hits off good, I'll release a more proper/cleaned up rom if I get good feedback from this and it is easily implemented by end users.

The proxy filters deny all of the file sharing places, so I won't be able to take a look until pm. You could drop the provxml file in your ftp director and I could take a look at it ... but more than likely it is the provxml choking because it is running into something unexpected.

But, if you want me to get a head start, let me know.

... and I don't know how to say it without sounding disingenuous, but the fact that you would suggest that I could help out is more than a little bit humbling ...

I'll do my best!

One thing noticed so far, i got about 700-800 overwrite files....is it that im selecting stuff thats already in there that im not looking at?

PPCKitchen\USER_OEM\DirectoryName

Each OEM that you want to include can have a unique directory off of the USER_OEM directory.

You mentioned CABs, which are programs, etc. that install after the cab file is run/executed. You can use an OEM package to copy the cab file into your ROM, but that does not install the application that is packaged in the CAB.

In order to provide specific answers to the overwrite question, you might need to copy the contents of your selections.txt file into the reply.

Best regards,
-boggsie

you own files you can add into the zzz_My_Files_OEM that is included in the USER_OEM2 directory. This is where I have some graphic files. And this does include manila2d, so it already has everything for that...too many to mention..

And I too am at work, so I can't upload it. Here in a bit I'll see if I can just post it here....

Re: Test: ppcKitchen Rom w/oem Package

Didn't even think about that. But I heard you were the xml goto guy. Thanks, give me something to play with tonight. And I think I'm gonna just include the m2d megapack and a skin in the revised release. No need for folks to download a 159meg file, when the skin oem's are done and available. A small learning curve going on. :)

So, here is an update with a little bit of thought... :)

The Files you need:

rstg_Manila2D_Sys20755_OEM_v1.0.1.rar -- Misc OEM's needed for the rom (reduced to a 20MB download...)

rstg_Manila2D_Sys20755_v1.0.1 Selections.txt -- The Rom's selections.txt file.

Super easy to use.. I rebuilt the rom, and im still having overwrite errors when doing anything with manilla....also selecting Mortscript with this rom will give it an error message that will not allow the rom to finish...dont remember what the error was, i can build another one and give that to you if youd like..
also, is there a way to delete some of the manilla skins?

There are about 15-25 files that Manila2D needs to replace in a standard windows build. These are mostly .dll's and such. If you downloaded the first one, recheck the first post. Last night I uploaded a new 20mb version that only has two skins, but it's not the skins that are causing the duplicate files... The main m2d oem should only let you select one skin. And mortscript, I can check it out, but you might ask about that in the ppckitchen thread. I know I had a heck of a hard time transitioning some of my oems over to the ppcKitchen side...

oems should port to ppckitchen without incident, unless they were improperly created to start with.

I heard the mortscript OEM has an error in it...we'll get that fixed and pushed out soon (I think it's already fixed, just waiting to be pushed).

Another issue im seeing is when running the Manilla 2d customizer, if i change any of the tabs, the whole phone will freeze, requiring a soft reset, then all is fine, till you press the start button, then the whole phone freezes again, requiring another soft reset....

What exactly do you mean when you change tabs? I can change the order, but in this version 019, if you select either the operatorwidgett or the myfaveswidget (which are by default unselected) it will freak out. Other than that it's a good solid M2D and I'm fine with that. And when you exit m2dc, it does restart touchflo...

Disable yes, remove....not sure on that one. But you wouldn't be able to tell the difference once you've exited m2dc.

I don't mean to sound stupid. And I am not a complete noob. But all I am seeing are the OEM files. Please direct me to the flashable ROM.

Can this ROM be placed into the the Vogue kitchen?

Thanks

It's a configuration for the kitchen. Put it in the kitchen, make any changes you want, build it, flash it.

All the manila mayhem, releases, etc... I think it's v0.9? :) to apply a theme, just copy your hh_*.* files into the MegaPack_Manilla2d_Skin1_OriginalBlack OEM. And that should do it. There are two OEM's with this one, all the main programs, and then one for the majority of the m2d graphics. And in my custom oem request thread there are a total of 18 themes for this thing in post #2

I'm sorta a noob with the ppckitchen stuff, lol. but these OEM's will work with either ppcKitchen or dogguys kitchen (aka vogue kitchen)... For that kitchen place the OEM files into the ..\OEM directory or head over to my other kitchen thread in my sig. It has flashable roms, just not with this theme.

I'll upload a flashable sprint rom for this before I run off to work this morning....

Edit: this version of manila is 0.11 update 19 dated 10-12-08...

So what sortof fancy name do you guys have for a pack like these? Looks like this might be a bigger hit than I first thought! My goal here was to provide a pre-skinned base, and download numbers are looking good!

Here is a flashable Sprint Rom.

The following rom's will need the RomUpgradeUtility.rar.

Here is a flashable rom: rstg_Manila2D_Sys20755_v1.0_SprintNBH.rar

This is a do-it-yourself kit, so I won't be uploading other carriers....You all understand I hope....

I saw a deleted post, yes this should work for the mogul.

Drop the OEM package into the USER_OEM directory. All the apps show up on the left category of Apps_rstg, Apps_rstg_M2D, and Apps_rstg_Today Themes. Select the programs you want, select the M2D OEM program, then when you select one of the skins, it will <Require> and auto select a corresponding Today Theme in this OEM pack. I haven't done this to other skins in my oem_request thread yet. I'll do that this sunday.

I'm gonna draw up a more complete set of directions for this as this was a "see if there is any interest" thread. When I re-post it, it will come complete with direction on customing the start menu for existing ppckitchen_oem.rar OEM's, and how to modify an existing selections.txt file for use with the mogul and apache. It should, but there is that memory limitation thing on the mogul and apache though....

My USER_OEM directory is sorta cluttered, you can still drop it into USER_OEM2, just add the following line to your selections.txt file:

Code:

ModuleDir=USER_OEM2
