Wrong. You need to be on Verizon's network to connect to the IP. Secondly tethering to your computer doesn't give your phone internet access as far as I know.

Re: VZW AGPS Fixed at XDA

Works fantastic for me. It took about 15 seconds to get a cold fix indoors!

I had been pretty happy with my GPS performance before but this now rivals anything I've seen on any GPS device. I could never got a lock indoors at all before and it usually took 30sec-2 min to get a lock outside.

I sure hope this doesn't go away tomorrow like it's only a dream!

Yes, it is configured during setup and can be enabled later if it wasn't enabled during setup. I'm not at my XP machine a the moment so I'm not sure of the exact verbage on Activstink checkbox, but in Mobile Device Center it is "Allow data connections on device when connected to PC".

In the olden times, before unlimited cellular data plans, it was the only way to send/receive email on your device.

My understanding is that the PDE server is only available from within VZW's network. So unless you're using a VZW datacard (or another VZW phone tethered as a USB modem) on your laptop for internet connectivity, you won't have access to the PDE server via your laptop.
