Re: New Bell ROM 3.09.666.1 released 8/23
The other ROM update was an really early fix for bluetooth issue. Don't see why they just don't remove it. Maybe it's on there for folks that don't want the GPS, Win6.1, etc. features.
I also noticed with this ROM upgrade that the Rev.A isn't enabled for me yet (via the ##778# viewing option). |

viewing through ##778# shows only a #777 for me as well....was hoping for Rev a this time around more than the GPS.....ah well.

Re: New Bell ROM 3.09.666.1 released 8/23
Since we're still not sure we're on Rev A yet .. .i've been taking benchmark speedtest at various places i've been...
from Montreal to the Laurentians Up to Saint Agathe des Monts... and the best I can get was 850 kbps on 4 signal bars... I couldnt get a 4 signal in Montreal for some reason... may be i was far from the towers but since I'm downtown, I was expecting the signal to be strong... If i was getting a constant 850 i would be happy but at 400 sometimes down to 100... this makes the browsing speed unacceptable... I just hope this ISNT the rev A speed we are all paying... may be a better ROM will make the speed more like rev A standard speed! Again, I've never used any custom roms... i've only flashed once to the 3.08 BELL rom once! I'm not even gonna bother with 3.09 unless someone tells me that there is a speed improvement... I wonder how those BELL users who used CUSTOM ROMS are getting as speed... Is it a fact that using a CUSTOM rom like NFSFAN will get the speed improvement ? If not I'm not gonna bother voiding the warranty! let me know |

Your browsing speed will vary due to many variables... I KNOW I have RevA working, and my download speeds vary depending on where I am and the time of day, etc (And I travel all over the place) Custom ROMs use the latest software, tweaked to give you the best performance possible due to the armies of individuals staying up all night testing them. What is produced here through this collaborative effort is amazing. The talent here is huge. All you have to do is browse through the site and pick the ROM that most suits you... Pretty damn cool. Custom ROMs do indeed give you increased usability. If you're worried about voiding the warranty, if you need to deal with your service provider, just flash it back to an official ROM before you take it in. You'd want to do this anyway to erase any personal data. I'm with Sprint, not Bell, and my custom ROM is WAY faster and more useable than the stock ROMs out there. Just my 2 cents... dj |

Re: New Bell ROM 3.09.666.1 released 8/23
Is anyone else having issues with this ROM Update?
I can't even update it from the bone-stock ROM. It gives me an error stating that this RUU isn't a valid Pocket PC Application. I only want it for the GPS support. Unless someone knows of a way that i can get the GPS working, or if there is some Cell Tower Triangulation software that the phone is compatible with. If anyone knows anything i'd greatly appreciate it. Support isn't really giving much SUPPORT either..hahahaha. BTW, it's an HTC Touch (Bell) Thx Last edited by flick_buff; 08-26-2008 at 12:56 AM. |

1. Go to this page: http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownloa...cat=2&dl_id=98 2. Download the exe at the bottom of the page 3. Read this step by step instruction http://www.htc.com/uploadedFiles/Com...structions.pdf 4. And run the exe, while having the instructions opened... 5. That's pretty much it... |
