OFFICIAL Telus 6.1 ROM w/GPS and Rev. A - R 3.41.00, D 3.07

The OFFICIAL Telus rom was released at approximately 12:30pm on July 29th, 2008. This rom appears to be the exact rom that was leaked approximately three weeks earlier. Due to the fact that the ROMs are the same, the information here should be helpful to those who upgrade to the new Official ROM.

After installing this rom you should then dial *ACT03 or *22803, press 1 for English, and then press 1 to program your phone.

If you want to use just this rom, and keep your 3.xx radio version (ie 3.42.30) then the .nbh is here

QPST GPSOne Settings:

These settings are used to properly configure the Assisted-GPS on the Telus HTC Touch (Vogue). Without these settings, many people cannot get the gps to work, but after applying these setting, get an instant GPS lock.

1. Connect your Vogue to your computer with the usb cable. This is also an excellent time to back up anything, just in case.

2. We need to put the phone in diagnostic mode. This is done by running dmrouter.exe, similar to epst.exe by dialing ##DIAG Send (##3424 Send) or ##DIAG# (##3424#)

3. Let windows install your new hardware. There will be two dialogs that come up. The first one should install after you click next. The next will require a file called qcmdmxp.sys and says it can't be found. As luck has it, your computer already has this file, and it's located here:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\.
Simply tell the wizard to look there, and it will show the file, click on it, and the installation will finish.

4. Install QPST if you haven't already.

5. Run the Service Programming program under the QPST start menu.

6. Double click on the little globe at the bottom right of your screen.

7. Click on Add New Port, and add COM4 - USB/QC DIAGNOSTIC. (might be another COM for some people)

8. Close the QPST Configuration window, and go back to the QPST Service Programming window.

9. Click on your phone, which should now be there, and then click OK.

10. Click on Read From Phone and then enter your SPC and click OK.

11. Goto the gpsOne tab (you'll have to scroll to the right) and enter these details:
Code:

Allowed = checked
Assistanc-Spherical = checked
PDE IP Address = 216.198.139.92
PDE Port Number = 8889
PDE Transport = IP
Position Calculation = PDE

12. SOFT RESET

13. Test GPS - I got 8 satellites in 1s.

If programming your phone fails, and you don't have any data do the following:
  1. Get your SPC using GetSPC and this DLL (copy both to your memory card, then run the program and enter your HEX ESN, then click go) (OR USE THE METHOD BELOW)
  2. Once your phone has rebooted, you will have to press ##778 [Send]
  3. Press Edit
  4. Enter your SPC
  5. Change all of the 000000xxxx@mb.telus to your phone number ie 4161234567@mb.telus as well as the MSID, Mobile Directory Number, Security Settings, and default profile.
Some may also want to look at THIS thread on how to change your SPC to a much more convenient number for the future as well, all you need is QPST. This is reverted back to the ESN based SPC when you reflash a stock rom though.

An alternative (and much better way) to get your SPC is to Connect to ActiveSync, click on Explore, click on My Windows Mobile-Based Device, then copy the file PPST58 (PPST58.log if you can see extensions) to where ever, open it with a text editor, and you should see this:

Code:

00:05:22 ppst58_funcGo()...
00:05:22 CheckRadioState(), 0th Phone status =1
00:05:22 CheckRilPort(), Check Ril Port...
00:05:22 CheckRilPort(), Init Ril port...
00:05:23 CheckRilPort(), Ril port ok
00:05:23 Go!!!
00:05:23 LoadLibrary
00:05:23 Get
00:05:23 GetFinish
00:05:23 Read_ESN
00:05:23 MDN ok
00:05:23 MDN ok
00:05:24 ---ESN---
00:05:24 xxxxxxxx
00:05:24 xxxxxxxx
00:05:24 xxxxxxxx
00:05:24 MDN
00:05:24 4165555555
00:05:24 4165555555
00:05:24 4165555555
00:05:24 SPC:
00:05:24 ######

The ###### is your SPC! Freely available to you in a nice text file. Big thanks to Rural Guy for pointing this out.

TomTom 7

Many people are wondering where to get a good program such as TomTom. Here is a .cab I compiled from the TomTom 7 extraction and AstroGPSLauncher.

TomTom 7.cab

This file is set to US English, includes the voices Jane (English UK) and Lori (English US Metric) and has map corrections enabled.

You can buy USA and Canada maps online for about $70 US. Make sure they are version 7 though, version 6 WILL NOT WORK.

In order to activate the maps you buy, you will need your Device ID. Many have found this to be a problem as they can't get into the menus of TomTom 7.
The solution is fairly simple:
1. Open ActiveSync.
2. Click on Explore.
3. Goto My Windows Mobile Based Device.
4. Goto the Program Files folder.
5. Goto the Navigator folder
6. Copy the file ttnavigator.bif to your computer.
7. Open this file with notepad.

The file should look like this:
Code:

[TomTom NAVIGATOR]
DeviceName=HTC-VOGUE
DeviceVersionHW=Windows CE 5.2
DeviceSerialNumber=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
DeviceUniqueID=##########
ApplicationVersion=7450
ApplicationBuildNumber=9028
UserName=
UserPassword=
CurrentColorSchemeBuiltIn=0
CurrentVoiceInfo=Lori
Features=xxxxxxx
SupportedPatchTypes=1f
NrSupportedErrorTypes=132
UserPatchDatVersion=102
CompressedPatchVersion=150
MapServerPatchDatVersion=104
DeletedPoiDatVersion=200
ServerLineIndexDatVersion=102
ServerNameIndexDatVersion=102
CurrentHomeLocation=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The DeviceUniqueID=########## is what you want.
9. Write down this code and use it to activate your maps.
10. Delete this file as some have had errors if it stays (a new file will be created automatically)

I have repeated this procedure about 5 times from a Hard Reset, and it has locked from within seconds up to five minutes (all outdoors).

Special thanks to everyone who worked on the TomTom 7 extraction as well as AstronusX for the Primer.

Re: LEAKED - Official Telus 6.1 ROM w/GPS and RevA - R 3.41.00, D 3.07

excuse my ignorance but how is this "leaked" seeing as it was pulled from the "official " release thread. Is this not the official release? Why a leaked version if its already made official? Im confused.

Re: LEAKED - Official Telus 6.1 ROM w/GPS and RevA - R 3.41.00, D 3.07

It is not official because although it was taken from the HTC website, it was found by a member on their servers, not in a direct link from their website, and has been taken down as of a few hours ago. Therefore it is 'Leaked'.

It is still 'Official' as with the Sprint Leaked Official ROM, as the filename contains 'ship' which is said to mean that is ready to be distributed.

I think the whole idea that flows in this forum is that it is either leaked or official, not both...

But it is both. It's a ready-to-ship rom, making it very official, especially since it was from HTC's own servers, yet it's not publicly released.

I could call the thread "FOUND ON HTC SERVERS UP UNTIL 12 HOURS AGO - Official Telus 6.1 ROM w/GPS and RevA - R 3.41.00, D 3.07"

But I think it's a bit too long.

Tobey,

Thanks for the info on the ROM. The version of TomTom that you attached, does it allow you to update the mapshare info via TomTom Home?

I haven't tested it through TomTom Home, but it works to connect to their servers with your tomtom login and you can dl voices and such, and the mapshare appears to be working, but I can't confirm that it's actually updating anything.

The server IP I have under SUPL AGPS is 195.207.101.126

It appears that my GPS works consistently in Garmin Mobile XT after I have "primed it" using Telus Navigator. It will continue being available for a couple of hours but if my Touch sits idle for over that time, it needs to be "re-primed" and I have only been able to use the Telus app to do that consistently.
