Re: ne one ever come up with a hardware keyboard fix

I fixed my keyboard on TP- thanks to this forum...there is a post here that illustrates step by step on how to swap the keyboard.

You can also find the quick fix.

So, there are more than 3 fixes posted here if your search....

Re: ne one ever come up with a hardware keyboard fix

Unfortunatly, like you said, it is a hardware issue.

If you can get them replaced (ie they are under warranty) that is the best way, otherwise new keyboards are fairly cheap on ebay, when I replaced mine I put a couple of thin strips of tape over the flex cable where it connects to the keyboard. That seems to be the weakness (in a non engineers point of view) As the keyboard goes in and out the the cable shifts a little bit each time and the connection into the keyboard gets jarred. That would also explain why the problem is intermittent on a lot of TPs. Sometimes it shifts out of place, sometimes back in.

Anyway, the tape worked for me. I havn't had a problem since. Either that - warrenty replacement, or the old take out the battery and squeeze between the space key and the back of the phone.
