using phone as router wm6.1

using phone as a router possible in this manner?
this phone is not on any network so the only internet i have on the phone is via active sync through my desktop.

question:

can i tether my phone via active sync, THEN have my laptop connect to the phone for internet

DESKTOP PC WITH INTERNET > phone hooked up via active sync > phone sends out wires signal for laptop to connect to.

possible?

I have to ask: "If you have internet and a PC why do you need to inject your phone?"

WMWifiRouter is your friend in this scenario. But I have to ask why? You can get a wireless router for under $30 now.

$29.95 at office depot:

Re: using phone as router wm6.1

I would have to also say "yes" as k_selmer stated, WMWIFIRouter will do it, never tried it but there is a icon with a "usb->wifi" button icon which means you can hookup on usb to a internet conection as in your desktop which has internet then xmit the internet your desktop has via wifi from your phone.

Again I have never tried it, but I am pretty sure that is what the icon button means. I use the other icon button "wifi->usb" since one of my old laptops does not have a wifi card I use the phone as a wifi card for the laptop via usb.

but if you look at it....wifi routers are a dime a dozen and pretty cheap these days.
