Question Backup from 6.1 to 6.5

Hey all,
I want to upgrade from a 6.1 mightyrom to a 6.5 psyki rom.

1. What exactly can i backup that is still compatible? (i have contacts synced with outlook but thats pretty much it. Was wondering is i could backup past text messages, possibly apps or other settings??? If you can recommend anything else maybe im just being forgetful)

2. Can i just flash via SD and load the new rom that way, or would i have to load stock 6.5 first for some reason?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Re: Backup from 6.1 to 6.5

1. On the root of your device, you will see a file labeled "PIM.VOL". Copy this file over to your SD card, and you will have most of everything saved. After you flash the ROM, rename the existing PIM.VOL on the root of the device to PIM.BAK. Copy over your saved PIM.VOL and soft-reset your device. Once the device restarts, delete PIM.BAK to restore archived txt messages.

2. There is no OEM WM 6.5 ROM.

Re: Backup from 6.1 to 6.5

Thanks. So the PIM.VOL from 6.1 is completely compatible with 6.5? And can you elaborate a little bit more on "most of everything saved" like what other than txt messages will be backed up?

Re: Backup from 6.1 to 6.5

It will also contain your contacts, and email information if you have a POP3 or IMAP account set up on your device. It will not restore call history. One alternative is to install Microsoft MyPhone, and back up your information to that. Simply install MyPhone once you have upgraded to WM 6.5, and restore your archived contacts, pictures, documents, txt, email, call history, etc.
