Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

I'm now having issues also....
Minneapolis

I flash to updated stock to see if it sticks.....
GPS locks then soft resets....otherwise the phone just freezes....
Seems to have been worse yesterday not as bad today...
But once I get outside I'll see.....
Yesterday it happened on both Psyki's rom and Indagrooves new one...

Within Psyki's rom thread someone was has issues too.....I think it was mentioned by Psyki or the poster that was haing the problems that it could possibly be a corupt QuickGPS file or something....

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

Hello,

Just wanted to chime in on this. I live in Dallas Texas and I am experiencing the exact same issues on my VZW TP. I noticed this problem on Monday and haven't been able to resolve I was running SSK Rom with no issues so I loaded a new Rom last night but that did not fix the problem. Haven't switched back to OEM Rom but might try that real soon I leave for Europe on Sunday and need my TP ready. Hope some one can lend a hand on how to resolve this strange issue. Could a VZW update cause something to go bad?

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

Checked with my friends on Sprint in Chicago; no problems with Palm Pre.

Looks like the TP issue??

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

guys..

the fix was posted up above.

flash the radio.

i have used the same rom for months. its not rom related.

not sure what it is, but flashing the radio fixed it for me and others posted.

just grab a radio you want to try and flash it.

I am CDMA so i grabbed the verizon cdma radio.

works perfect and gps actually locks faster, and battery lasts a bit longer.

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

From Canada on BELL here and same issues too... since monday too actually,

sometimes GPS shows within 2300 meters in google maps and then justs crashes.... This is really odd that so many people are experiencing the same problem with the exact same symptoms in a same time frame, can we rule out hardware issues ?

Mine did in fact a soft reset after GPS 3D lock, and on any gps app( google map, garmin, gwatch etc...)
... Just my 2 cents could this be a "quick GPS" issue.. maybe an out of sync timing or something sent from the website might keep our gps out of sync or sends error after a GPS lock ?

I understand flashing the radio is a good solution but I would like to take this option as last resort as I cannot find any BELL radios if ever I need to go back to a fully stock TP.

should we just wait and issue might solve itself ? anybody has a suggestion for this issue without flashing the radio ?

thx to all

Joe

I can confirm that worked for me. But to me the big question is "why" did this happen to us all of a sudden?

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

well, not being a programmer i am not sure..

but i would think quick gps only gives reference for other programs?

not sure at all as its all theory.

sure does seem like it hit everyone and that seems to be the common in all of this.

so then does qgps right something to the registery? and if so does flashing the radio overwrite the registery?

all therorys

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

It does appear flashing a new Radio has fixed the problem for me but from my experiance with it, I think QuickGPS was Involved somehow....Before I flashed the new radio, all my GPS programs would work fine...until I updated my QuickGPS Data, then... reboots....Then Hard reset...everything fine again....QuickGPS Again....Reboots Again! IDK....Weird Stuff! Maybe something corrupted the Radio's and QuickGPS triggered the problem?

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

Same problem here... Up till a few days ago, all was well with GPS, now getting resets everytime I lock... For those who reflashed the Radio and got GPS working again, did you try running QuickGPS afterwards? Did the GPS keep working without the reset issue?

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

I agree, it really seems like this is a quickgps issue. I changed radios last night, and all was well. Until i ran quickgps this morning. Now once again, soon as i get a sat lock, it softresets. Im gonna pull out my keychainngps receiver, and see how that goes.
