problems with my touch pro (Alltel)

i've had my touch pro for quite some time now and have it on a custom rom (tank rom 5.1) and it's giving me some problems that i know have been discussed on here before but i just wanted to get a clear answer to my questions...

1.) i have the same screen problem (switching from landscape to portrait). only wierd this is that when the phone is closed, if i mess around with the right side of the touch screen (as in closing programs, etc), it works fine but when i mess with the left side (trying to go into the start menu, tapping on the phone button), it will switch to landscape. the screen works fine when the keyboard is out. is my g-sensor messed up or is it the keyboard thats causing the problems??

2.) my keyboard goes outs sometimes when im trying to send a text. the keys do not respond and when they do, it will repeat the key like 50+ times. i constantly have to soft reset the phone to make it work but everytime i soft reset the phone, one thing will begin to work fine but another thing will mess up.. is the keyboard to blame?

should i switch back to stock alltel rom then back to a custom rom to see if this fixes anything? im a newbie when it comes to phones but one of my friends has been messing around with HTCs for a while and was the one to flash my phone and do all these things to it. he tried flashing it to a different rom but still had the same problems. im not sure if he tried to flash it back to the alltel rom or not. i know he did a hard reset and it still didnt fix anything... this morning the phone was working fine touch screen wize but then it went back to how it was after a while...

any help would be appreciated!

Re: problems with my touch pro (Alltel)

All your problems sound like they are related to the hardware on the device itself.

Try the stock ROM, see if there are any improvements - if not, then it's almost certainly a hardware issue.

Re: problems with my touch pro (Alltel)

Your problems are most likely caused by a bad flex cable. New one can be purchased from eBay sellers, be curtain to a cable for a CDMA Raphel 800 (or sprint Touch Pro 1).
If your not handy with small electronics please find a friend to do the fix for you. The TP will have to be fully dismantled for this repair.
