The beauty of the home button and the others

Sometimes my home and back button seem to serve another funcion. The home wants to do the functions of the dial button. The back button sometimes just does nothing. At this stage in the game the directional button will also slack off its job.

At some point it will all start functioning again, lol.

Also since im on here... I have stock ROM. Do most ROM's offer something to pump up the ear volume during calls? One would think that "all the way up" would be at least loud if not annoying but I need more lol.

I experience random button failures now and then. I believe in my case it's a software problem. For example, when I open messaging, I often cannot use the 'down' d-pad key until I first press 'up'. Once I press up, everything works fine. I figure somewhere between Microsoft and HTC someone is trying to get me to switch platforms. There are other times (can't think of them ATM) when d-pad or other buttons fail pretty consistently (and recover with the same steps) which is why I don't think it's hardware.

Also, if I press too far in the corners the home and back buttons don't register. I have to press over the lit icon.
