Two quick questions.

Sorry if these have been asked before, but I've been looking through most of the chefs' threads and can't seem to find anyone discussing this, so here goes.

1.) Have any chefs incorporated the updated HTC Manila files from the latest Sprint Touch Pro OEM ROM release? Has there been any discussion about whether or not this latest Manila update is better/worse than the Manila builds most chefs use? Can the two possibly be combined?

2.) Is there any work being done on porting the Manila 2.5/2.6 home screen photo-dial functionality? This is one of the things I miss most about my Treo: just having a simple, clean assortment of photos on my home screen that I could tap to initiate a call immediately. (I know Titanium has the favorite people app, but that still requires scrolling: ideally, I'd like my home screen to just be a clock, the day's calendar events, and then 5-10 pictures I can tap to initiate a call.)

Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Two quick questions.

Here's an answer to a question you didn't even ask :P.

1) I don't think too many chefs use the old manila. Most use the 2.1 port by yoztag. The manila version in the new Sprint ROM is older than many of the versions around now.

2) Yes, but there is no photo-dial on the home screen as far as I know. Those are for icons to programs on the home tab. There is a contacts tab that just has thumbnails. It is being ported, but who knows when it will be done. You can look at xda development and hacking forum for more info (sun_team and muttim are doing the porting).

Re: Two quick questions.

why don't you try regular today screen plugins? i know they seem archaic, but if you want simple and customizable, that's the best way to go
*edit*

this was my today screen on my touch. there are some picture speed dial plugins out there that will do exactly what you want to do
