Syncing -- What should I sync with, how should I sync?
Let me explain to you why I'm not screwing with this without seeking some advice first.
The last time I screwed with it, I lost all my contacts. Long and the short... I was trying to use WMDC to sync my contacts/calender with Outlook (which I don't use for anything else, btw) and it wouldn't sync. None of my contacts were showing up in Outlook. I went to tinkering with options. You'll notice under Mobile Device Settings>Change Contact Sync Settings>Contacts>Sync Settings it words it "Synchronize contacts from:" Well that's exactly what it did. Took all my contacts from Outlook - NONE - and made it match my phone which now had NONE. That quick. 2 seconds. All gone. I want to avoid this happening again. I'm willing to ditch Outlook. Advice please. On using WMDC or even just a different program altogether. I don't need to necessarily save all my settings and stuff but it would be nice in the future. I want to get these things synced to my PC so I can start unlocking and flasing new ROMs. Thanks all |
Re: Syncing -- What should I sync with, how should I sync?
The best advice I can give you is to back up your phone. I use PIM backup and make sure to back up my device anytime I am screwing with syncing or flashing.
Also there is an option under advanced that says "if there is a conflict" and the options are "replace the item on my device" or "keep the item on my device" do you have the replace option checked? If so change it |

I've been using Dashwire for a very long time and have only had one or two very small problems. Pros are that if you get a new phone, you can sync everything over the air (read: your contacts on your phone before you get home from the Sprint store), you can view/add/edit/delete all of your contacts online (including pictures) and can also very easily send text & email there. Lastly, you also get the added benefit of having your photos, videos, text messages, bookmarks, and call history synced up.
Hope that helps! |
