When you receive your emails, does it read the subject when it is incoming or does it just show as a new email received? |

Re: Now that Gmail works with Activesync...
What's the difference between using ActiveSync and setting it to every 15 or 30 mins versus using IMAP and setting it to the same pull times? Would one be more efficient and better on battery?
I had ActiveSync set to send immediately and noticed that my battery seemed to drain a lot faster because I was getting a lot of emails. Can I go with IMAP for email and use ActiveSync for calendar and contact updates? And if so, do you think it would be any better on battery life? Last edited by tygger; 10-06-2009 at 12:51 PM. |

Re: Now that Gmail works with Activesync...
The battery drain isn't as bad as I thought. My phone will use 10% (maybe up to 20% sometimes) more battery throughout the day with no change in how I use the phone.

Re: Now that Gmail works with Activesync...
I have a different problem. My battery seems to last just as long, if not longer with ActiveSync set to "as items arrive". I am in a poor reception area, but not poor enough to go to 1x. So sometimes while doing imap it would lock up, get real hot, and kill the battery. That no longer happens, but apparently the signal telling my phone whenever mail arrives gets lost instead and never re-sends. So, sometimes when I get mail, it can take anywhere from an hour to all day for it to show up on my phone. Any ideas how to fix this?
That said, being able to use the ActiveSync schedule is great. I want to use notification for my email, but don't want to be woken up at night, so I schedule it to stop checking all night, saving battery, and then I get all my mail the following morning, even what got dropped the previous day. |

Re: Now that Gmail works with Activesync...
Just hooked up to Google Active Sync. Do I have to reset anything on my phone or on my Gmail account?
I actually just want to optimize the mail push function. Everything appears to be working fine @ this early hour of the AM... |
