verizon htc touch pro voice/reception quality & fix to 3 ring problem

I'm interested in buying a htc touch pro from verizon, but am concerned about the voice/reception quality. Can anyone give feed back about their experience and rate it compared to other verizon phones with regard to voice and reception quality.

Also, is there a fix to 3 ring problem on touch pro?

thanks in advance

I'm not Verizon, but if you're referring to when it blinks the light ring a few times then rings, some people have blamed it on the default dialer pad or tf3d. Either way, I usually catch it in time to answer the call. I haven't come across an actual fix. If you want you could try going to the older version of the dialer, which can be done by reg edit. As far as the rest I'm not Verizon so I can't help you there. Good luck.

Sound quality could be better but it's decent enough

Re: verizon htc touch pro voice/reception quality & fix to 3 ring problem

I am on VZW, and I can tell you that I have NO issue with the voice quality of this device. I did, however have an issue with reception. I'm not one to flash new ROMs and such but installing the latest official VZW firmware made a huge difference in the radio for me. Battery life increased a bunch too as its not constantly looking for a signal.

As far as the 3 ring problem, I tried changing the slot cycle index as suggested by some, made no diff. Not a real problem for me though. I usually have the phone within arm's reach.

Luck to ya

Re: verizon htc touch pro voice/reception quality & fix to 3 ring problem

Im on the VZW TP, voice quality is fine, im on a flashed ROM (Energy), and it still has the 3 ring thing with the Windows Dialer. I would honestly just get the TP2, the TP1 is gimped and cant run alot of programs at the same time, the extra $100 is well worth it for the extra 90mb of ram

i'm buying it!! Thanks!

I decided that I'll be purchasing it. Mainly because att coverage by me is horrible and verizon is excellent.

I'll be using it on cellularplus, so I won't have a data plan.

Does anyone know if I am sent an mms, will there be a data connection that needs to be turned off (like the i760).

I plan on leaving the data connection off and perhaps using wifi, should i have any problems with data charges?

Thanks again!!

Yes, there will be a data connection that you have to turn off afterwards. If you download Diamond Tweak, there is an option to turn off the data connection when not being used. I have mine set to turn off after 1 minute of being idle. You can download Diamond Tweak here:

Hope this helps.

Re: verizon htc touch pro voice/reception quality & fix to 3 ring problem

The best verizon flip phone has 1 ring delay. There is no way around it. For Windows mobile, make sure change your slot cycle=0 and set your ringtone to wav format. This should reduce the delay to at 1.5 ring delay. I think this is the best one can do on WinMo phone.
