beats me but i'd guess somewhere along the line the graphics are telling it to overwrite your icon with the gold box rather than highlight it with the gold box
my only suggestion would be dump it and start over, try again

it has to do with the transparency of the slider. there should be an option to change it. havent used TF3D in a while so i dont remember how but it should be in manila customizer.

it could be an incompatible theme, from a previous version of manila, he is using manila 2.1, try using a different slider, one for rhodium manila, or manila 2.1
