HELP!! Phone wont stop autorotating screen

As the title states my sprint touch pro has just recently started auto rotating the screen constantly and I cannot use my phone at all as it just keeps rotating between portrait and landscape non stop if I touch the screen or press any buttons. Although if I slide out the keyboard and keep it out the screen will stop and be usable. I was running DCD's 2.06 ROM and it just started happening today and I was not using my phone at all and I hadnt done anything new within the past few weeks. I tried different ROMs and the problem still persists. I believe it might have something to do with a problem in my accelerometer or possibly the sliding mechanism for the screen and keyboard. If anyone has an idea how to fix it I would greatly appreciate the help as its annoying to have to keep my keyboard out to use my phone at all (and my keyboard doesnt work at all anyway).

my guess would be something wrong with the sliding switch. if flashing to different roms doesnt help, i would try flashing to a stock rom as a last resort, but at this point its prbably safe to say you have a hardware failure.
