hate to say it but that's the only way it will work
vzw has gotten so tight locked about it. When this happened to me, I went to the store with my old phone, showed them it didn't work they gave me a refurbed mogul that crapped out a week later (no shock) and then the vzw touch pro...
...
\vzw makes no sense I say but que sera sera

Re: Verizon “accidently” removed my Sprint - Touch Pro from their network

No offense, but I don't think they owe you anything. Like me, you probably hacked your phone to get it to work in the first place, and having something like this happen is the risk we took. It sucks it happened and what jmorton10 suggested is exactly what you need to do next. I've been down this unfortunate path myself and it was a APITA to get data working again but it can be done.

A more accurate question would be does it run well for a four year old phone that goes nowadays for $50? And the answer to me is yes. I did a horrible video demonstration that pretty much doesn't help, but it at least shows you a little the response time. Memory management might be a little tight but it was certainly useable and it'd easily make a good backup device:

I'd make a better one but I gave it away that day.

I mention in the blurb on the right that when I showed 11mb I actually had word, IE, and a few other apps open, so it's not even that bad. I wish I'd taken the time to do a better video, but I wasn't planning on hosting it initially.

Re: Verizon “accidently” removed my Sprint - Touch Pro from their network

I spent 3 weeks trying to get the so called "OPEN" network to accept one of my 3 Qwest HTC 6800s 2 of which were just active 2 days before I switched handsets.
I've been with VZW since Qwest dumped me in their lap.
With 2 6800's and 3 more clamshell's, all 5 lines active for more than a year.
And then the data plan.
2 level 3 tech's and 3 weeks of "7 to 10 days",
I finally raised enough stink to get a bleeding heart discount.

Long story short, $55.00 later and I now own my second BNIB XV6800.
Now the TP is selling for $99.oo (with 2yr.).

I might hold out till the TP2. The TP seems so flimsy, at least the one that I held at the store was.
I would get them to sell you a TP for the $99.USD (if thats what you really want) for their refusal to be fair. And waive the 2 yr commit. (since it was their fault).
It might just work, they are the best team of customer service reps that I have seen in a long time.
I just don't care much for their refusal to let me use my Qwest 6800's as a backup.

Happy hunting...

In that case, Verizon's store website has the TP for $30 with two year subscription.
