Talking Touch Pro Keyboard not working? Out of warranty? DIY FIX!

Note this thread is intended for those with a HARDWARE problem, ie. a hard reset does not fix your problem at all.

My keyboard works very intermittently. Sometimes it doesssss thhhhisss and other times it lags tremendously and other times it just won't work period.

Anyways I've tried the space bar method which worked for a week or so before it too became ineffective.

Today I busted out my screw driver and opened the little sucker up.

Basically, if you locate the data cable under the space bar of the keyboard, thats not the problem!

To its left are two golden contacts spaced about 1.5" apart. These are the problem! You must bend the pins a little so that it is contacting the bottom of the keyboard above them.

Bam! I boot i up and I get consistent text input again.

I'm going to swing by sprint first since I have insurance. Might be a easy swap at the store. Mine is doing the same thing. Pisses me off. What is the size bit you used to unscrew it?

I have a crappy cheap screw driver with a bunch of torx heads. It's a smallish torx head.

The screw is a T6 Torx. The phillips screws located in other parts of the housing are "0 point". Having the right screw drivers keeps your carrier from knowing you've opened it. Especially if you take an exacto-knife and carefully pull the entire VOID sticker off of the one screw and place it back unharmed when you're done.
