SMS Lock Ups?

Recently flashed a few different ROMS (Cal's, Mighty's, JD's) and I noticed I am getting hangups when trying to close out of my 'messaging' screen.

I maintain over 2000 text messages each time I re-rom - does this have any type of adverse affect on the subsystem - potentially causing hangs?

(Why do I keep the texts? I dunno, I am a pack rat and weird like that!)
