Re: aebplus keys rarely work
i had a lot of problems with that piece of software, so i just stopped using it all together. it made my phone hang on bootups sometimes (6.5), and other random problems. all i really wanted to do was set my home key to task facade, but that program also has its own bugs. the task manager made by showcase i believe, is by far one of the best pieces of software i've installed so far though.

Re: aebplus keys rarely work
Weird, AEButton+ works great for me. That is one of the first programs I install after a flash, & I've used it in every ROM I have ever run. I agree that task fascade is buggy, I deleted that & I use that showcase TM myself.
I couldn't live without AE since HTC saw fit to eliminate all the hardware buttons that I loved in my old 6800's ~John |

Re: aebplus keys rarely work
You might want to check out DredSensor. It's a similar concept, and I have had good success with it, including on recent Rhodium 6.5 ROMs.
In particular, as long as I only map 'Double-Tap' actions onto the Home/Back/Send/End (double-tap, not double-click) then there doesn't seem to be any interference with other phone/button options and configuration. If I map any other functions like a hard click, or a long-press, then the Dred settings seem to override some of the other phone-configured ones. So, I only use it to map these 4 actions, but it works: Double-Tap Home - LOCK Double-Tap Back - CAMERA Double-Tap Send - Brightness to 100% (Mortscript) Double-Tap End - Brightness to 40% (Mortscript) Might want to try it for your volume issue... EDIT: I just tried Showcase as a task manager, mentioned above by jmorton and below by apinkel, and holy cow! That. Is. Awesome.

Re: aebplus keys rarely work
I've had spotty results w aebutton plus as well (it would crash and restart on occasion and it seemed to slow down my startup a bit more than I would have expected).
I switched to Keyboard Configurator which, in addition to being more reliable than aebutton plus also allows me to remap the home and back buttons. It replaces the keyboard driver so it intercepts the keypresses before being sent to applications. Here's a thread on it... http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=71233 While not perfect I find it much more reliable than aebutton plus was. I also recently switched from taskfacade to e-natives showcase... excellent app. Really fits in well with the look of TF3D. |

OMFG DredSensor is probably the best app I've ever used for the TP.
I have an OK button again!!!!!! Thank you AskWhy (and thanked your post also of course) You made my day. |

Re: aebplus keys rarely work
I have AEB+, but I found it only worked reliably for the phone and end keys. The Home and Back keys would always do their default action anyway.
What I like about dredsensor is that there is a mental break between clicking and tapping. As was noted above, if you set a double-tap, there's very little chance of making a mistake and pressing the wrong thing. It does seem to interfere with scrollsensor a bit, but I think I can live with that. Every user is different, which is why it's nice to have some flexibility and options here. |

Re: aebplus keys rarely work
how do you set up this dred sensor, all i see is the option to edit the default config, and i just tried setting Type to Launcher, and just tried setting my home key or other keys to either open a certain program, or another button to close application, all on double tap,
and double tap just means press the button twice right? i've pressed it either quick, slow, nothing am i supposed to set the window title or class name? what am i missing? |

Quote:
No, double tap doesn't mean press the button at all. No need to set window title or class name after it default to * or whatnot. Don't think 'button press' think 'touch screen tap' -- the entire button area is actually touch sensitive (capacitive?) and if you set Dred button for double-tap that's all you have to do, touch it twice lightly in a row. |
