Final steps for getting my Sprint HTC touch pro onto Verizon.
So I unlocked the phone and put the latest Verizon ROM on it. I followed this http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=851029 (towards the middle of the page) and edited the variables as shown. Was that the correct thing to do? All I have left to do now then is contact Verizon and convince them that I have an Alltel TP and need help getting it added to the network (the ESN)? I don't know what HA and AAA secret keys to put in the M.IP though, but I assume they will be generated automatically later on or something? I don't know how I'd get them off my old samsung I760, and the file that WAS attatched to that forum with the keys, is gone. Also, as of now, it still says my service is "Sprint" and it will only let me call *2, which is sprints customer service number. Any insight/help would be much appreciated, thanks guys.

Re: Final steps for getting my Sprint HTC touch pro onto Verizon.
If it's letting you dial *2 it sounds like you're still running a Sprint PRL file. Might try searching for what's called a "Modified Verizon PRL". This PRL will have the device using Verizon towers, but reporting back to the phone that it's on Sprint so that the device doesn't put the little roaming triangle in the title bar.
Once you have it, put it on your SD card and dial ##PRL#. Or for the long way, you can use ##778# and go to the PRL screen, tap, hold, and edit the PRL. It will most likely ask for your MSL code, which you should already have if you were editing settings before. Then point it to your new PRL and let it do it's magic and restart. |

No problem. I've traveled down that road before. Of course when I did it was before Verizon locked out the "easy" key step that made it work.
You did read my post here right? http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=61926 |

Haha yeah, lucky bastard, I was too late. I did read you're thread though. I asked a few people and they said that if I convinced them that it's the Alltel version of the touch pro, they'd probably give in to adding the ESN and activating it, since Verizon bought Alltell and all.

Re: Final steps for getting my Sprint HTC touch pro onto Verizon.
Well, I called them up today and gave them the MEID and told them it was an Alltel HTC touch pro, after waiting, they said it was impossible to activate an Alltel phone on my line, why would that be? Should I call again some other time and tell them it's a spring instead, or just give them my MEID or ESN and if they ask who the manufacturer is, tell them Alltel? Or should I say sprint? Is the only number I really need, the MEID?
Thanks |
