gps and data

if you turn off your date connection, will that also turn off the gps? and if you turn off the date connection, will that stop you from doing anything with your phone except recieve emails. i undersatnd i can obviously manually turn back on the date connection if i want to do something, but if i dont care about getting emails throughout the day, is there any other reason to have the date conn open. thanks

Only if you are using a net based app, Garmin, Tom Tom+ Igo8 ect runs off of memory and GPS alone

"and if you turn off the date connection, will that stop you from doing anything with your phone except recieve emails."

Your email will not work.

"i undersatnd i can obviously manually turn back on the date connection if i want to do something, but if i dont care about getting emails throughout the day, is there any other reason to have the date conn open. thanks"

That depends on your apps or if you want to surf the net or stream something.

Re: gps and data

are you talking about turning off data or turning off the actual cell's radio so you dont get phone service. 2 different things. i can turn data off and usually leave it off anyways unless im using google maps. but the answer is, NO you wont lose GPS if you turn either of them off.

Re: gps and data

as elmer said, wifi and BT both will drain battery. factor that into your daily usage and it doesnt make for a good outcome.
