Alltel to Verizon tower issue

Nope, didn't update ROM. Didn't know there was one available. I think I read on here somewhere earlier today that a ROM update stopped somebodies GPS from working. I use my GPS way too much to risk it being locked out. I will update if others can verify GPS still works.

You could always have him push it to your phone and if it doesn't do what you like replace your PRL

You can replace the PRL with the option ##PRL# or ##PRL send (depends on the phone)

From there you can use a PRL you download from the internet that is stored on your memory card

EDIT: Forgot to add that you need to know your MSL code, i believe on alltell phones its the same as verizon "000000" thats six zeros

i've used the rom update to update my PRI and Radio and my GPS was even quicker in locking satellites.

Havent posted anything in awhile so thought I could help out with this one. The hybrid PRL will be your way to go as simply put its designed to pick up signal from both Verizon and Alltel towers (more so alltel if your alltel signal was better in the area)

If you load the PRL into your phone and it causes adverse affects just dial *228 opt 2 (OTA verizon/alltel) and it will load a regular verizon PRL into your phone. though you have been moved to Verizon Wireless billing and service you HAVE NOT UNLESS YOU CHANGED YOUR PLAN OR EQUIPMENT been moved to a Verizon Switch. You are on an alltel switch but are being routed slightly different. The hybrid PRL would put you back to where you were at before (in theory) and will be only available in certain markets (my father already has one states doesnt see a change) which is why you may not have one yet. If you dont get it pushed to your phone via over the air you can even head to your Verizon/Alltel store front and they can load it in manually.

That being said ive seen good and bad happen with this PRL so its going to be dependent on how well the conversion for your area went.

I have been having similar issues since Verizon took over Alltel in my area also. I was completely happy with Alltel and now Verizon screwed it all up. I am running MightROM 6 on my Alltel TP and right now I am using the newest Verizon Radio, I think it is 1.03.09V. This has worked the best for me so far. I am not sure about what PRL I am using I will check and post back later.

I wish Verizon would have left us (Alltel Customers) well enough alone!

with the Alltel phone there is a Hybrid PRL that you can be put on. Since you are already converted with Verizon they would be able to add your phones to that list. There isnt really anything that the customers need to do. It takes 24-48 Hours to automatically push into the phone. What it does is makes sure that your phone is recongnizing both the Alltel and Verizon towers. Right now its not recognizing one or the other. Once its in the system for the Hybrid then you dont want to do the *228 update because it will take it off the Hybrid list. The store wont be able to do anything by reprogamming. As far as adversly effecting your phone.. it doenst effect anything but making use you have full use of both companies towers. It is a good thing to have until the conversion is complete in your area.
