auto turn display off?

Can someone help me figure out a way to automatically turn off the display to save battery but keep my touch pro on. I have used psshutxp to turn off the display but would like this to automatically happen after the phone dims (which initializes phone lock). Is there a way to do this? I am hoping to keep trackme running in the background. Thanks

Re: auto turn display off?

I dont know if it will work for you, cause I has never worked for me, since day one.

Maybe that is also why you are asking this question:

And you have checked this setting?
Settings/Systems/Power/Advance

"Turn off backlight if device if not used for"

Re: auto turn display off?

I use Pocket Shield, it has a feature that will let programs run in the background when then phone goes into lockdown mode.

Re: auto turn display off?

Thanks for the info on pocket shield, I will look into it. I tried the advanced settings, but the program I want to run keeps the gps open and doesn't let the screen fully turn off. It will dim, but not go black.

Another option is if anyone can tell me how to configure the psshutxp display off to work when I hit the power button? I have seen how the power button can call psshutxp but would like it to just execute the display off without confirmation.

Re: auto turn display off?

This is the options that PS give me when I want to have a app running in the background. If you decide to go that route.

"Here are some of the "Application permissions:

Unlock PS when this applicaiton:

(x)Want focus (jumps to front)

(x)Is running (even in background)

(x)When this app is running: Keep device on, turn screen off and lock (use this for apps that you want to run with screen off, for example music players, radio). Note: for some apps this can take 15 seconds for activate."

Re: auto turn display off?

The option 3 sounds like it would work. I will see if they have a trail to test it out. Another option would be if it is possible to customize the "lock" button on the wm 6.5 start menu at the bottom right to point to display off for psshutxp. I will have to look into this as well.

Re: auto turn display off?

Get s2u2, it really is the best lock program available. It has plenty of options to configure it for power off, or just screen off, and what to do for certain programs, not to mention it looks great.
