im not sure what the hole is for, not a lanyard though as there is only the one hole, no exit for the lanyard loop to come out...a vent perhaps, ecause they new these phones become the surface of the sun when u turn on wmwifirouter lol

no look inside the actual phone when you remove the cover, you will see a small piece of plastic you can loop a lanyard on
