Alltel/Verizon Merger & ROM's
 

I have tried to search for some information on this, but have been unable to find an answer. I have an Alltel TP, and the merger is complete in my area. I am trying to figure out if I can now flash a Verizon ROM to my device to gain the V Cast, and VZ Navigator programs. If anyone knows please let me know. I may just try it to see what happens.....I enjoy flashing so it may be a fun experiment......lol

i want to see if this works, I understood we couldnt use verizon services on alltel devices.

You can definitely flash the ROM as long as the device is unlocked. Heck, I was running Verizon ROMs on my Sprint TP that I have on the Verizon Network without a problem. As far as getting those features to work, why on earth would you want to use VZNav? I also don't believe there is a VCast App for Windows Mobile.

I am not sure about V Cast, I am still researching that. As far as VZ Navigator, you're right....why would I want to use that.....I just install Amaze and it works great. I am gonna flash a Verizon ROM to my phone later today when I have time and I will post my results this evening. Thanks for the info.

Okay, so I flased my Alltel TP to the stock Verizon ROM. I tried to use VZ App Zone and it told me that I was not a recognized user.....I am assuming this is because my ESN is not in their database. I will probably call Tech Support to have them add my ESN, but the more I think about the more I realized that there really is no reason for me to use the Verizon ROM to begin with. I reflashed my phone this morning to the newest dcd ROM, and I like it so far. Now I have to go through the process of adding all my other cab's. I hope this helps some people. Thank God for PPCGeeks, I love the ROM's these chefs come up with.........way better than stock ROM's.
