what is writeshield?

I have been trying to do some research on screen protectors over the weekend. I have found a lot of different product names that all refer to the same skin type protector that comes from the military polymer that was used for helicopter blades. Others are strong plastic/latex/rubber polymer screen protectors that are designed to be very clear. So far I have not been able to determine exactly what the Writeshield protector is. Does anyone have a good link to what it is? I went to the manufacturer website and tells what the benefits are and what it does but not what it is.
