Calling all underclockers...

I use No2Chem's underclocker app, and I have a sneaking suspicion that it may be actually HURTING my battery life rather than helping it. I run it at 384 mhz, and it seems like since I've been doing that my battery life has been WORSE. I noticed yesterday when I forgot to install it when I got my refurb & the battery was doingfine, and when I did install it my battery started dying fast.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this or is it just me? I wonder if the constant monitoring of the processor may be taxing the battery in some wierd way.

I wouldn't doubt it.
I don't use any underclocking/overclocking things.
No sense. I like my phone just the way it is.
(I really gotta update my phone in the profile thing to my TP)
I have no problem with battery life.
I'm usually on the internet around a total of an hour/hour and half at work,
that's basically my 2 15minute breaks, and my 1/2 hour lunch that sometimes turns into an hour. haha.
And then I'm playing music atleast 75% of the workday,
sometimes streaming for a good half of the time I'm playing music,
I usually work 10 hour shifts too,
I like to use commas instead of periods when on forums,
don't really know why,
just thought I'd throw that in there,
but at the end of the day I usually still have an hour or two of battery life
before it gets down to the 10-15% range.
oh, and I'm using the stock battery...

I remember hearing that people were saying it hurt battery life, or was no change at all by slowing it down. It wasn't really all that fantastic of a change. I never jumped on that bandwagon because of those early complaints so I don't have any personal experience.

I've just noticed my phone dies quickest when I'm using it. It can sit overnight and have nearly no loss, but it takes about five texts to match the drain of sitting idle overnight...

I'll add a +1 to WTF to this, this was too long for me to read the first time around

I had coreplayer streaming some music OTA at work (di.fm electro house) to my a2dp headphones last week for about an hour. I went from 80% battery to 12%...

An hour.

It doesn't even charge that fast.

I remember reading those comments about it hurting or not doing much at all.

lol, no tweaks, running nfsfan's rom.
my TP charges really quickly too.
alot quicker than my vogue did with all the tweaks and mods I could do to that thing.
I guess I'm just really lucky because I stay in a revA coverage area all the time and never get below 2 bars. maybe that helps me?

Re: Calling all underclockers...

I've been running No2Chem's clock tool for a few months. Earlier versions were a bit buggy for me, but ever since 1.3 it's been flawless. I've probably flashed through 15-20 ROM's in the past couple weeks and used version 1.3 of the clock tool on every one without problems. I work in a low-signal area which kills the battery quick as we all know. I never use EVDO, 1X only all the time to help battery life. I used to use the clock tool to downclock to 384MHz all the time and 19.2MHz when in suspend mode. Now I leave the cpu at 528 and go to 19.2 in suspend. Without the clock tool I can't get through a work day on one charge. With it I have 30-40% battery left at 5:30pm.

Only way to find out if it works for you is to try it. You can always uninstall.

Re: Calling all underclockers...

Yeah I actually get pretty good batt. life as well when I listen to music (XM Radio). And I'm a DJ so I use alot of music on this thing, half the time, it is always plugged into my DJ rig ready to play in a moments notice! I will also run opera, and a couple other programs too, and I can still pull at least 4 1/2 hrs out of it with all that running constantly
