Also, if you drive your car out of town for work, I would look into a signal booster antenna thingy majig. hah. but that's only if you go to areas that have crapy 1x service alot, otherwise it prolly isn't worth it to get one.

Your right, I was just showing an easy way to force EV or 1x.
But if the O.P. is not getting an EV signal I would guess there is nothing you can do to make the data connection faster.

yea I am thinking the OP is just in a 1x network area.

At the very least, I understand much better. I've downloaded the .cab file since I can't seem to find EVDO Only in my settings. I'll try it out later, but I have the same feeling. I doubt it will be able to change my connection. I'll let you know if it does!

I installed the .cab file and, just as mentioned, EVDO Only became an option. My phone however, could not find an EVDO network. Nonetheless, I'm happy having learned a bit more. Thanks to all.

that .cab is more for people that are right on the fringe of EVDO.
