Just got a Touch Pro, so help a newb out.

Alright, I just got this phone today as a replacement phone for one I dropped. I'm really digging the phone, but theres some issues. It's the Alltel version if that makes any difference.
My biggest gripe is the fact that the phone wakes up in my pocket when someone calls or send a text. I thought it was locked, got a text and when I go to check it, theres ALL kinds of programs running from it sliding around in my pocked. I read about the Slide2Unlock2, but I need an idiot's guide on how to install and use it and I haven't seen any extremely newb friendly info on it.
I'm also interested in anything I can do to speed up the user interface, and improve battery life. I don't want to change the whole OS, just tweak what I already have. Again, I need to this explained to me nice and slowly using small words so even my grandmother could understand.

Can anyone help the newb out? I've never had a reason to modify a phone, but the phone waking up in my pocket it totally unacceptable.

Re: Just got a Touch Pro, so help a newb out.

Check out the stickies up there in this forum and also check out the CDMA Upgrades forum and look at the stickies in there. I would suggest flashing to a new ROM, because they will fix your unlocking problem and will also make everything a lot faster and prolong your battery life. You'll have to unlock your phone and then flash a new ROM. The stickies have everything explained just how you want, easy as pie to follow.

Find a good locking program or use the default.

Look for Touch Lock Pro. I use it and it's great. It's easy to install and gets the job done.

Re: Just got a Touch Pro, so help a newb out.

I installed Touch Lock Pro, but don't really notice it doing anything. I'm a bit lost here. I was going to try out SLide2Unlock2, but don't know if I'm supposed to use the VGA version or the QVGA version...I need to get this figured out or I won't be able to keep my phone on me when I'm working tomorrow. Ugh.

The Touch Pro is VGA resolution. Meaning 640x480 pixels (or 480x460).

I would recommend PocketShield. Does the job you need it to do and that's it. i THINK IT'S THE BEST.

I also turn of the slide to awake function. It is a registry edit. but can easily be done with something like Total Commander (File Explorer - Registry Editor)
