well, the increase in dwnld is from better tower ect and faster/more requests per socket.. by the specs it's the same.. (gsm's 3g is basically evdo)
rev.a is a revision of evdo(3g) so it's not really a new generation, what I meant by 4g was wimax.

anyway, no2chem worked on the Ra icon issue last year and was unsuccessful with sprint.

RevA is definitely not 4G. I don't think anyone would consider it 3.5G either. 3.5G is usually mentioned when referring to 7.2Mbps+ HSPA networks.

@Shaggy - I seem to recall that he got it working on the Mogul, but that it was dependent on having an updated rilphone.dll. Unless we get an updated ROM from Sprint it doesn't seem likely that we'll get the RevA indicator.

It's not the task bar. I put a rom that was made for only Alltel on my phone. The screen grabs from the rom had the rA icon on it, so that taskbar has the icon.

Do I need a alltel PRI or something?

Check your EPST and make sure you actually have Rev A enabled on your phone. ##778# (for Alltel... might be ##3282# for Sprint), under Data Parameters.

Since you're positive you've got the rA icon in your phcanOverbmp.dll and you've got the reg value "show_rev_A_icon" in the correct place, it sounds to me like you might not actually be using rA.

Another possibility... and this is very much a use at your own risk, could be no2chem's Override .dll and reg hack from here that was mentioned earlier. Haven't actually tested this, but the core concept is ... err... kinda relevant, so--assuming you *do* have Rev A in your EPST, it might be something to check.

I thanked your post after I downloaded your taskbar that you attached. I installed and it is working but I have still got the same Ev icon on the taskbar. Do I need to delete the reg entry show_rev_A_icon or do I leave it and add another?
I do like the addition of the red and green colors in it. Even if I can't get the reva icon I kind of like it.

I think for Sprint it's ##3282#.... lets you check your data provisioning. Might be able to see if you have Rev A in there. With Alltel I can go into Data Parameters here and disable or enable Rev A. I've never done this on a Sprint device to know if it looks or behaves the same, but you could check.
