security code feature

i cant remember how i programmed the lock to come on everytime the phone goes off.. how can i disable that feature..

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ What Jason said.....
That, plus check the drop down for how much time you have elected. If set at zero, it will ask for your security code/password every time you press the power button.
You can also, uncheck the box about prompting. When you go to the Lock setting it will ask you for your code/password to verify "you" are the only one making changes to that setting.

where do i go to check the drop down ? when i go to start settings and click on lock all it does is lock the phone ..

It's supposed to lock when you go there.
After entering your code/password, it should give you a check box and
to the right a drop down box. If you uncheck the box, you shant have the
problem any longer.

sigh... when i unlock my phone it goes back to the home page.. no check box.. no drop down .. nothing but the home page screen...

More details please. Are you running the stock ROM? If not, what ROM?
If other than stock, go to the appropriate ROM thread for assistance, due
to familiarity of particular ROM. If stock, a fellow ppcgeek'er will surely assist.
If no assistance comes in near future, I will look at my kid brother's phone running
the stock ROM, see if any more help/advice may be given. Good luck.
