Help Setting up OWA synchronization

Well,

Naturally, put on the ActiveSync and I've got the Windows PC connection. The funny thing is since the corporate head here uses an IPhone, the IT boys set up our network to liaise perfectly with IPhones, everyone else is on their own.

So, I asked them how to hook up with our exchange server and they said I'd have to link my phone with our OWA portal. Which is fine (i guess) so i finally jumped into ActiveSync and started playing around when i finally discovered how to add another connection other than the default "Windows PC".

So, i went through all the settings that connect to our OWA:

server = owa.company.com
SSL = Checked

User - now, on our owa when I browse to it, I type in: ad\MyUserName
Pass - password
Domain - ??? This field is not used for my owa... the domain is part of my user name with the ad\ , but this won't let me leave this field blank.

Suggestions?

Thanks
Jaeden "Sifo Dyas" al'Raec Ruiner

Re: Help Setting up OWA synchronization

assuming AD is your company's internal domain name:

in the user field, just put the username without the ad\

then in the domain field put ad, without the "\"

Re: Help Setting up OWA synchronization

^ Yes that's how I do it no AD\user just the user name, then fill in the domain name

server address is you OWA address

That's it and don't tell anyone but we are not using ssl so you might want to double check that. You could try with the box checked and without see what happens. Also you might want to remove email sync from you PC you shouldn't need it if your PC is set to sync with exchange. For example I don't setup active sync at all on my company PC. If I want to transfer a file I will just click connect with out setup.

Your on the right track just remove domain from user name and fill in were it asks for the domain and verify SSL.

This all assumes that you have server 2003, exchange 2003 and it has been setup to allow mobile connections.

Re: Help Setting up OWA synchronization

hmmm...no SSL? what company do you guys work for lol

Email sync will automatically be removed from the PC partnership when an exchange server is setup. You can still use your computer/active sync/WMDC to backup files, favorites etc. etc.
Also- The server address you are using will most likely only work from a data plan/outside wifi connection, and will not work from the wifi in your office.

Re: Help Setting up OWA synchronization

Wow, why would anyone open up OWA without SSL? I guess everyone uses the password "password" there too!

Re: Help Setting up OWA synchronization

For the domain I just put the name of the company. For example if is Ford Motor Company than I would just put ford.

Are you trying to set up your e-mail to sync with your phone?

Re: Help Setting up OWA synchronization

also your phone needs to have the ssl cert loaded on it. I too am trying this, I got the cert on but it is expired so I dont know for sure that was my problem. Best way to get the cert on is on your pc, go to the owa.company.com, once on the login page, there should be an icon near the address bar that says something about the cert, you need to click or double click it and install it. Once installed you can click on tools, Inetnet options, then the content tab, then certsificats, click the trusted and find your cert and export it. Save it to the desktop and then get it on your TP and use file exploer and double click it and it wil install to your TP, then try and sync.
