Boot time affected by animated gif startup?

Here's a question, does anyone know if, as a ROMs animated boot screen is animating, does the OS continue to load UNDER that animated gif?

Or, does the device start to boot, display the animated gif animation, and wait until it's done animating before moving onto continuing the boot?

If the boot waits for it, thats like.. 3 precious seconds that we waste every time we boot the device! And the amount of times that I've been flashing and installing apps requiring soft resets and hard resets... thats like.. 2 - 3 minutes of my life that I'll never get back!!!!!!!!!

You can disable the startup animation in diamond tweak, but I do not think it makes the phone boot any faster. I believe that the blank screens shows up just as long as the animation screen does.

I don't even know why boot time matters, if a rom is made well you won't see that boot screen often enough for it to matter.
