Having trouble getting GPS lock

I have IGO8 on my sprint touch pro, and i have such a hard time getting any gps signal! I use the quickgps finder that comes with the touch, as well as the HTC issued hotfix (which didnt really do anything for me) and i generally have no GPS connection. I installed the HTC GPS tool that i found in the verizon gps unlock thread, and i'm attempting to use that to get an initial lock on the gps but so far it hasnt worked too well

once i have the initial lock, there doesnt seem to be any problem using it.

is there any programs i can use to get the initial lock? or even better, is there something stupid i'm forgetting to do before i use IGO?

even with HTC GPS tools it still take a few seconds to get a lock, sometimes up to 35sec. when using HTC tools click on cold start and stress on. also make sure the port settings are com4 and baud 4800.

ok cool i'll give that a try. at least it'll let me get a lock. normally i cant even do that. thanks for the tips

should i leave the GPS tool running in the background while using IGO?

I have found that if I have trouble getting a lock I exit the app. run cleanram and then restart the app. I usually get a lock instantly. If you haven't tried it yet I would highly recommend this app. Do a search on this site you will find it.

i have found even if i hit the X to close HTC GPS it is still running. you can leave it open or close it. doesnt matter once it sees/locks the sats.
