need help with bluetooth activesync on vista

I cannot get bluetooth to work for activesync with vista.
If you are running vista and have bluetooth activesync working I would love to hear from you on the model number of the bluetooth adapter and the procedure you followed to make it work.
My current bluetooth shows up on my phone and even lists activesync as an option but despite it being within range when I try to activesync it says there are no devices in range that support active sync. I have tried the following..
1) deleting the profile and do linking by starting from within the activesync application
2) adding com port to my pc and phones setup and using regedit to make sure it is in there.

please help.. I hate vista already and to have no activesync via bluetooth makes me hate it even more and I cannot go back ..

thanks

Re: need help with bluetooth activesync on vista

You shouldn't be using active sync with vista. I think they have a mobile device center application for that. You also need to have you're phone set to visable to all devices.

Your also cannot be connected to the PC by USB at the same time you are setting up the bluetooth connection or it will not provide the Activesync option. Be sure Windows Mobile Device Center is open on the PC and the phone is not connected by USB before doing the bluetooth pairing.

What bluetooth stack are you using on Vista? My laptop had the toshiba BT stack that doesn't support syncing. I had to uninstall it and use Vista's native stack....
