My TP is falling apart, but it hasn't been physically abused!

My TP has been falling apart lately. I haven't been abusing it, and it's had a case on it for the past 6 of the 7 months I've owned it. I bought it the day it came out, so I daresay this is one of the oldest TPs out there.

However, look at the condition it's in:

The casing near the sliding rail has broken through

The casing on the opposite side is also cracking

And not to mention the touchpad which hasn't sat correctly ever (not even on day 1)

It has been in a plastic case the entire time, except for the past month when the tabs on the case broke (it was the snap-on kind), so it's been very well protected.

When the case came off, I noticed the crack in the 2nd picture. In the 4 weeks since, I've not dropped the phone AT ALL, yet the crack in the 1st picture developed. That crack seems to be because it's right next to where the slide-stop is for the sliding action.

Like I said before, I haven't abused the phone in any way, i've taken care of it, and it's been in a case for most of the time i've had it - yet it's falling apart! Should I really have to pay $100 to have it replaced via TEP?

usually if there isnt any impact marks your okay but if there are scratched corners then when you bring it in they will cry foul, bring it to a sprint store and see what they can do. SOMETIMES they will replace phones like that for free via the TEP

Use the advanced exchange and you never even have to see anyone and they send one first, it should go through sprint not asurion since it's happening from normal useage, but I would add in that it has been doing random resets just to keep it replaced through sprint in case they try to claim you abused it, and route you to asurion.

Select the "Self Service Phone Replacement Page" in the second paragraph

Check your ESN under the battery, see if it's inside this range:

If so, they may replace it. If not, they may still if you make enough noise.

Since it was old, I thought it might. You might want to take it into a Sprint repair center, since you -may- be able to get them to exchange it for a new one due to the chrome issue.

It's possible the memo has expired, but if you care about whether you get a new one, it's worth a try. If not, you can just do the advanced exchange. If you go, be sure to bring a copy of the memo. Some of them won't be able to easily find the memo (or at least will try not to).

Good luck.

I've contacted eCare and they acknowledged the phone is defective, and have agreed to credit the asurion deduction fee to my account!

But I'll give a local sprint repair center a ring and see if they'll just swap a new one out for me first :)

Yeah try to get it through Sprint as Asurion will drop you if you have 3 replacements in a year (Of course you probably won't need 2 more replacements, but you never know)
