Broke my Opera and can't reinstall

I'm running Silence's 6.5 (non rhodium) and it installed with a strange bug. When surfing to Google via Opera 6.5 Google displayed in Spanish. Because Opera was cooked into the rom it didn't show up in the remove programs screen.

I then installed a newer version of Opera and it did the same thing (spanish) so I uninstalled that, then went to Windows and deleted the Opera folder in it's entirety. Now when I try to install any version of Opera I get this:

"Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions."

I've tried all I can think of but cant get Opera back on the phone so I'm turning to the pro's here for help. HELP! Save me from having to use PIE

Re: Broke my Opera and can't reinstall

You might try using a app like memmaid to uninstall opera completely. Or you could try another browser like opera mini or skyfire. Also download opera from the opera website. It's worth a try.

Re: Broke my Opera and can't reinstall

This worked for me. Go into the Windows subdirectory and remove any Opera subdirectories. then look at Opera files and remove ones that seem be more recent.

I tried this but there appear to be 9 Opera files in the windows directory that cant be removed because of lack of permissions. I also tried to remove them with Resco but can't because it says they are part of (cooked into) the rom. Memmaid didnt help either. I'm hoping another cure can be found found otherwise it looks like I'll have to hard reset.

Re: Broke my Opera and can't reinstall

There is the hard reset when all else fails. I did not have to try that, but now I do have an Opera working, but cannot install another one.

Did you try searching the registry?

Yeah, did that and found some Opera registries but didn't know what to do with them I'll probably go the hard reset route although I'm not happy about that.

Re: Broke my Opera and can't reinstall

I just got done performing a hard reset and have tried hard resetting again and its still the same.....do you think it is because it is cooked in and you are unable to overwrite cooked files?
