Stop ringer / notification with volume button

Hi,

I can't seem to stop a ringer or notification sound with the volume button. On any cell phone, no matter how poorly designed, if there is an alarm or an incoming call, you can stop the ringer just by pushing the volume button. Is there a software or setting that enables this? or a ROM that has this feature?

What I have seen work is, when there is an incoming phone call, just press down on the volume key...Or if the alarm is going off... For an incoming call, you can always press 'Mute Ringer' and the call will be muted...

Ok, from what I just tried (merdinh rom) when a text comes in if you hit the END CALL button or hang up button it will kill the sounds. But if you do this with a phone call it automatically goes to Voice Mail. But on the bottom of the screen when the phone is ringing there is a MUTE RINGER button just like BIGDIESEL07 said. Like I said I am running merdinh's rom so I have no idea if this works on the shipped roms. Hope this helps a lil

The 'Mute Ringer' option is available in the stock Sprint ROM... I am running it...
