A rare breed

Seems like we are the lost legion on the forums with our horrid Verizon service and lacked HTC TP's .I did an extensive search to try and find out as much as I could on how to unlock ,install custom ROM's , and what works and what dose not work with Verizon TP's .Is there anyone els out there with a VTP ?
:violent2:I wish I had an Iphone :angry7:

Just follow those steps, one by one, and it will unlock your phone. It's really not that hard. Let us know if you don't understand something and we'll help you out.

I'm not sure why you feel VZW makes this a difficult process. If you'll notice, Sprint, Alltel, Telus, etc.. have to go through a similar process to unlock the phone.

Less memory and crippled GPS (fixable thanks to Bored) are the differences. (I think the Sprint TP looks better, but just my opinion).

Read the thread you linked, ask specific questions. If you want a VZW friendly ROM, check out Scott's Simple Kitchen/ROMS. He makes a few specific to the VZW TP and its limitations.

I'm a car guy , when we start talking about .CAB files and ROM's im totally lost .I have no clue what most of that is and or how to go about changeing it .Do you have a like to Scott's ROM's ? I was going to go with mighty mouse and add the slide to unlock bar ?

mr8820 gave you a link to all the custom roms. Just click on that link and scroll down to SSK. That's what Scott calls his roms.

Just follow the instructions and your good to go. I would recommend flashing SSK roms since they are optimized for the Verizon TP. All his roms are made with a Verizon TP. The Verizon TP really isnt that bad. Sure we have less memory but if your upgrading from a mogul/6800 the TP is a worthy upgrade. Just my 2 cents.

Re: A rare breed

Unlocking and flashing a verizon TP is almost no different than the Sprint TP besides that it needs a different unlocking rom. Again, look at that linked forum post, do google searching to figure out how windows phones in general work (.cab files, what is a rom, etc).

Also, Scott's SSK roms are gods gift to verizon TPs and don't go with Mighty because it is more of a memory hog. If you like the slide to unlock, SSK has it too.

P.S. iPhones are too hyped up/uncustomizable , imo
