backlight will not turn off
 

Hello,
I am kinda new with the htc touch pro, so please bear with me.
The back light will not turn off regardless of the time setting that I put the light to go out under power /advanced settings. It does not wokr for either battery or external power. :(
Any help?

Yes several times but nothing.
I even called Sprint tech support and they could not figure a solution.

Sounds like a hardware malfunction.
Have you tried a hard reset? Or how about reflashing the shipped rom?

no hard reset yet,
i was hoping this to be the last choice.
Do you loose all data in hard reset?

yes. just back it up and give it a go. If it doesn't work then you can get a free warranty replacement

let me get this straight,
if I hard reset, does it come back to the original sprint set up?
or I have to install all the sprint programs after?

If you have never flashed a custom rom or radio on to it, when you do a hard reset it will return to brand new out of the box condition.
