Signal Strength Issues....

Just flashed to the newest Mighty ROM 6.

This is mt first time flashing, and im virtually new to this.

But for whatever reason my signal strength has decreased dramatically.

Does anyone know how i can possibly fix this?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Hello Dubez,

to clarify your situation, are you saying that the bars have decreased on the taskbar? If so, this is not a good indication of actual signal strength. the 6.5 roms do show less bars than the standard 6.1 signal bar but this doesn't translate into to poor coverage. You can run a couple tests as well to validate the signal before and after using fieldtest.exe which is in the windows folder of device memory. Also, if you change out the taskbar with another one like Gadgetfreaks 6.5 taskbar, you will notice that the bars come back. I use GF taskbar and highly recommend it. It's a matter of preference really but like you I like to see bars

If you decide to use fieldtest.exe, use total commander to view the windows folder, scroll down to fieldtest.exe, select it and choose hdr. this will show you the data signal strength. this thread gives you some insight into what the figures mean: good luck

no problem. check out GadgetFreak's taskbar at this thread: this is his 6.5 taskbar thread but he has ones for 6.1 as well.

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...30&postcount=6 (for 6.5 taskbars)
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...4&postcount=15 (for 6.1 taskbars)

Also Total commander can be found in this forum. its a cab as well for download. sometimes its included on certain roms. Actually here it is:
Attached Files
File Type: cab tcmdpocketarm.cab (486.3 KB, 10 views) Click for barcode!

Re: Signal Strength Issues....

I, too, had signal problems on my TP after flashing Mighty ROM. I couldn't get an EVDO data connection to save my life. After an hour on the phone with advanced tech support & advanced data tech support, I have EVDO again.
Here's what worked for me: (I'm not instructing you to do so, so if you do & break your phone, it's not my fault)
Open EPST by dialing ##778, send; or ##778#, whichever it is for your carrier. Enter the unlock code (search here or google to find out how to get it) Tap the left soft key (View Info), go to the security page. The second entry (HDR AN AUTH PASSWORD) should be your phone's --forgot which, will edit later after I look to see what it's called-- **CRAP- I thought it was on the back of my phone, but it's not. I guess either call tech support or ask around here & see if anyone knows which number I'm talking about & how to get it** number. If it's not, edit it, making sure all letters are capital. Then go to the right soft key, tap ok & tap ok to reset. After I did this, I haven't had one issue. I also dialed *228, options 1 & 2, just to be sure.
It was either Mighty ROM 6 or SSK 2.4 that did it to mine, so if yours is wrong too, it's got to be MR. I'm gonna go pull my battery & see which # it was.

Hi, I'm stuck at this step. please update once you find it. Also, HDR AN AUTH PASSWORD is all garbled characters like you would see if you open a .doc file with notepad. Is this the field that you edited?
