Wi-FI Signals?

I got a questions, is there any program to find wi-fi spots? Because when I open the menu that shows the wi-fi spots, it doesn't say refresh or something like that to know what wi-fi's are available? And i thinks the signal pop up come lake, when you are no even close to the wi-fi or you are gone from that position... any help?
