Virtual COM (USB)
HTC told me that I can use my phone as a GPS unit for software and applications that needed a GPS signal to operate.
I have Microsoft Street and Trips 2009, and want to use my phone as the GPS unit for the software. There are several programs on Google that do this, but I want advice from a professional that will advise me before I brick my phone. Be advised, if its easier to just buy the USB gps unit from microsoft, I will. |
Re: Virtual COM (USB)
why not just use the phone itself as your GPS? there are several programs out there and some, like google maps are even free.

Re: Virtual COM (USB)
That's what I want to do.
If I didn't make it clear on my motives, I'm sorry. I want the phone to be a GPS itself. And I want Microsoft Street and Trips to recognize it as GPS. Anyone? |
Re: Virtual COM (USB)
You can do it...someone asked the same question about the time the moguls gps got unlocked...you can try searching there...sorry, but I can't remember the name of the program....the program made the computer think the phone was a bluetooth gps receiver.
although for ~20$ this may be easier http://www.chinavasion.com/product_i...k-laptop-umpc/ http://www.google.com/products?hl=en...num=1&ct=title |

you misunderstood what i was saying. use the phones GPS and the phone instead of needing the laptop. the TP can run GPS programs like Google maps, Garmin XT, TomTom and so on. what im saying is, you dont need the laptop to have GPS. im running XT and google maps on mine with nothing else needed. |
Re: Virtual COM (USB)
just use microsoft windows live search wls.live.com go there on your phone and download the program.
