3G > Data Connection

By default when accessing internet IE/OPERA etc my TP auto starts Data connection, is there anyway i can have it auto start 3G then fall back to data connection if 3G not available

Thanks

EDIT: Settings > Conenctions > Connections > Auto start T-Mobile Internet is already configured as Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)

Re: 3G > Data Connection

Had a search about and it seems that when 3G is on it will automatically take priority over data connection, of this is true is there a way i can auto start 3g and data connection at the same time isntead of manually having to go into the comm manager and switch 3g on

Re: 3G > Data Connection

There are only two forms of connectivity, 1X and EVDO. In 1X data mode, you should see 1X as the service identifier. There is no dialing required to use Internet aware services in 1X mode. For EVDO, you have to dial #777, if you see EV and you can use the web, you're using EVDO/3G. You are correct, if EVDO is available, it will take priority over 1X, even if the bandwidth is worse than 1X.

Re: 3G > Data Connection

OK some points for you.

1. 3G is the same thing as data connection. GPRS/EDGE and 3G use different radios, but they both accomplish the same thing.

2. You are using your Touch Pro on T-Mobile, correct? The Touch Pro will not work on T-Mobile 3G. It doesn't matter if you have an unlocked Fuze or an unbranded Touch Pro. The 3G radio does not operate on the proper frequency for T-Mobile 3G.

Re: 3G > Data Connection

Apologies, didn't see the edit by the OP. TMo's 3G is compatible but it depends on the area. There is limited 3G coverage in Bellingham and a coworkers ATT TP works fine on 3G. Even in the GSM world the same holds true...GPRS/EDGE = 1x, 3G/HSDPA = EVDO.
