Re: activesync via bluetooth not working
I'm having the same problem and I just looked through all the activesync threads and can't find a solution. I connect just fine with a USB cable but I don't always have one with me. My current TP is a (brand new) replacement from Asurion, and the one I had before worked just fine. Does anyone know any software that can fix this?

Re: activesync via bluetooth not working
Huge key is what bluetooth stack do you have on your PC. On my laptop, if I used the Toshiba bluetooth stack, no activesync. If I pulled the Toshiba stack and used MS's bluetooth stack, activesync worked every time.
Maybe it's your PC and not the PPC? |

Re: activesync via bluetooth not working
I've found the whole BT ActiveSync/WMDC thing to be a bit flaky. The first thing that I had to learn is that it will NOT sync via BT until you sync via USB once. After that, setup is dependent on your BT stack, but I haven't found one yet that simply won't work. One key is that you must see and check the "ActiveSync" service from your TP when you set up the BT connection (meaning, on the TP, after you pair the device to your computer, you get a list of services available from your computer. If one isn't ActiveSync, you're doing something wrong).
What I've found works for most BT stacks is to set up a BT COM port and then tell ActiveSync/WMDC to use that port to sync. Then you'll see the ActiveSync service on your TP and you should be good to go. Good luck! It may take some fiddling to get to work properly and reliably. |

Re: activesync via bluetooth not working
I'll try messing withe COM ports because I've already done everything else. The most frustrating part of this is that it WILL connect via bluetooth for tethering, just not activesync. Thanks guys.

Re: activesync via bluetooth not working
I managed to get Vista to sync via bluetooth on my Touch with the Toshiba bluetooth stack. Basically it will not sync via "bluetooth" so you have to create a virtual outgoing COM port on your Vista machine and modify the registry to use that COM port instead of "bluetooth". And finally you have to tell WMDC to allow connections via your virtual COM port. Works flawlessly.
Here is a somewhat helpful post.
