Bluetooth, USB, WIFI Tethering. Which one do you use?

I want to know which form of tethering do you all use when your using your touch pro? Which options gives the best results for battery life and tethering speed?

I tether via USB and I would think that consumes less power. Speeds are better too, I'm sure.

well one thing with usb tethering is that your laptop would need to either have extremely good battery life or else you would be sucking blood from the laptop to power your phone. also the draw of the power doesn't neccessarily charge the phone, because of the heat.

USB and WiFi are fast, but with WiFi it kills ur battery, while USB charges. Bluetooth sucks. Eats ur battery and not as fast as WUB or WiFi.

Re: Bluetooth, USB, WIFI Tethering. Which one do you use?

I use both USB (ICS) and WiFi (wmWifiRouter)

In both cases I don't have issues with power as with USB the Computer powers the phone and with the WiFi I simply plug it in...

I tend to like the WiFi option better as I can move around with the computer if I have to and it's a pain when your tethered by USB.

But note WmWifiRouter is not a free program!

Re: Bluetooth, USB, WIFI Tethering. Which one do you use?

I use BT, for some reason it disconnects every 10 or so mins using usb. From the tests ivs done bt vs usb to dl speed is nearly the same and the ul rate is slightly higher via usb, nothing to brag about though.

Re: Bluetooth, USB, WIFI Tethering. Which one do you use?

I use WMWiFiRouter (wifi tethering). I tether the most as home and coverage can be spotty, so I leave my phone in a place where I know it gets great reception. I leave it plugged into the wall, too, so usually I can tether indefinitely. On hot summer days, or if the sun is shining directly on the phone, the battery is dead in an hour.

Re: Bluetooth, USB, WIFI Tethering. Which one do you use?

USB and wifi give about the same speed for me, bluetooth is quite a bit slower.
USB and bluetooth run with about the same level of heat, wifi runs hotter.
USB works well if you are connected to a desktop or if your laptop has a monster battery.
wifi works well if you can charge your phone (via AC or car charger) while surfing or if you need to share your connection with multiple PC's.
Can't think of a good reason to use bluetooth unless you need to be wireless and want more security than wifi.

You can always activate the setting so that the phone doesn't get charged while connecting to a USB port.

Re: Bluetooth, USB, WIFI Tethering. Which one do you use?

I like WalkingHotSpot.com -- WiFi tethering, but very easy to set up and use. Especially nice if you want to share your connection with someone else who may or may not have everything set up to use USB tethering.
